i use a alfa awus036h i got off ebay delivered for about $40. its 600 mw. standard 3 db whip antenna.

i once used the cantena to boost signals even more but for some reason cantena dont work.

on east pensacola beach i pick up wifi signals from the city wifi and hotels. almost 3 miles away. most of the time signal is usable . web surfing is slow at times but email is excellent.

for the bucks this alpha is dang good!
